Completed nearly three decades after the building was first converted from a bank processing center into a public library in 1996, this comprehensive renovation reimagined the facility to better serve the evolving needs of its community. The project transformed the existing interior without expanding the building's exterior footprint, reclaiming approximately 2,000 square feet of public space through thoughtful planning, operational improvements, and a more efficient organization of services.

Formation Interiors' contributed to the interior design of this project by helping create a modern, flexible library that balances technology, accessibility, and community engagement. The renovated facility introduces distinct environments for adults, teens, and children, each supported by newly configured service desks, expanded collections, and spaces designed for learning, collaboration, and discovery.

Significant enhancements were made to the children's and teen departments, including enlarged collection and play areas, dedicated spaces for teens, early learning and public computer stations, and a 760-square-foot shared programming room for youth activities. Additional study rooms, a storytelling and community meeting space, and expanded storage for children's programming materials allow the library to better support educational programming and community events.

Operational and accessibility improvements were integrated throughout the facility, including an Automatic Materials Handling (AMH) system to improve material processing, lower shelving to enhance accessibility, expanded and renovated restrooms with two new family restrooms in the children's area, upgraded nonfiction collections, new flooring, ceiling systems, and all-new public furnishings. Interior daylight was increased through the addition of solar tubes and refreshed glazing, while updated landscaping and complimentary Wi-Fi further enhance the visitor experience.

The renovation also invested heavily in expanding library collections to better reflect the needs of the community, with particularly significant growth in children's Spanish-language materials, board books, graphic novels, early readers, and newly published resources. Together, these improvements create a more welcoming, inclusive, and adaptable library that serves patrons of all ages.

The completed project demonstrates how thoughtful renovation can breathe new life into an existing civic building, extending its usefulness while creating spaces that encourage learning, accessibility, connection, and lifelong community engagement.
